Well, the first issue of TRIAL OF MAGNETO just came out so that’s pretty cool! Here’s a preview for the second issue. I’m excited about this story and I can’t wait to show you guys more and go in-depth about this book.
I’m also working on r(ender); with Jasmine Amiri for Oni Press—this is my first original comic and it’s been in the works for a long time, but I promise the wait will be worth it. It’s sick as hell and I’m so happy with how it’s turning out. More details to come. ;)
Other than that, I’m just workin’ hard and stayin’ busy. I am still kind of getting the lay of the land here and figuring out this platform but even this test-test-1,2,3-mic-check account here has hundreds of subscribers now despite being idle, so I figured I’d say hello. I have so much I want to say, so many things I want to talk about about, but we’ll get there in due time.
Expect inconsistency from digital dispatches. Only materially—I am going to cautiously commit to posting something once a week here. But I am also going to be up-front and let you know that I’m going to post whatever I want for that. Sometimes I’m just going to write. Sometimes I’m going to share whatever my ADHD hyperfixation of the week is. When I have a book coming out, I’ll let you know that too. Next week’s post is either going to be about magic, music, or my boobs. I haven’t decided yet.
This Britney Spears/Deftones mash-up that Tini just found. Earlier I’d shared this amazing playlist of mash-ups to the X-writers slack and mentioned my favorite track being the NIN/Death Cab for Cutie mash-up called “Closerflies” by Neil Cicierega. I was listening to this mix late last night while reading in bed and that song just made me sit up straight, like, “wait—what!”
Later in our TQS* chat, Tini and I started talking about the appeal of unexpected song combinations that we love when she found this Deftones/Spears mash-up, which of course now we, along with Vita, are obsessed with.
(*search Twitter for #trashqueersquad for now, I’ll make a real TQS primer post soon!)
I also have about a billion Scarlet Witch playlists that I listen to when I’m writing TRIAL OF MAGNETO, depending on which vibe I need. Although this past week I was listening to my hellfire gala ‘21 and “songs to not kill myself to” playlists because I am amazing.
I do a TON of research for TRIAL OF MAGNETO. You’d be aghast at what just my work-related TBR pile looks like, let alone the stuff I read for me.
Lately I’ve been researching the evolution of different symbolism across the global history of occult practices, and came across this lil guy:
Important mash up is Taylor Swift/Nine Inch Nails Shake It Off/Perfect Drug
